Lobbying Works: Uniting Resources to Educate Lawmakers on Realities of Industry Brings Sought-After Results!

Since the 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp, our industry has weathered unstable regulatory conditions as we navigate the transition from contraband to commodity.

AgHS has worked extensively to educate policymakers on the realities of hemp farming. We collaborate with members of Congress, federal agencies, hemp industry associations, local law enforcement, and state departments of agriculture to build political will reflecting the needs of farmers and agribusinesses nationwide.

Recent notable policy improvements reflect our efforts, such as:

  • Increasing the negligence threshold to 1% THC

  • Authorization for performance-based sampling

  • Options for remediating hot crops

  • Adoption of 30 day harvest window

THE BATTLE AHEAD:

We believe that a science-based change to the legal definition of hemp from 0.3% THC to 1% THC is the only realistic standard upon which to base our emerging industry.

YOU ARE THE KEY TO VICTORY!

It is only through the participation of our industry stakeholders and grassroots supporters that we aggregate the political will necessary to make the changes we need to fully enfranchise this industry. We’ve seen time and again that comments work, and that supporting industry advocates like AgHS leads to success!

Now is the time to join the Crossroads Campaign! We welcome you to help us take hemp across the final crossroads to become a respected agricultural commodity.
